From the beginning of next year, selling prices for products in Russia will increase by 5-20%. The rise in price will affect a wide range of goods – from dairy products, coffee, juices, rice to confectionery, writes the Kommersant newspaper.
The publication refers to manufacturers and distributors who notified retailers about the price increase. The argument is the rise in exchange rates, which affects the costs of imported raw materials, and the rise in price of transportation services within the country by more than a third. It is also reported that there will be an increase in costs for personnel, fleet renewal, and warehouse rental.
The newspaper cites excerpts from letters from a number of manufacturers who warn of an increase in selling prices from January 2024. It is noted that the price will increase by 4.9% for dairy products, for juices – by 16.1%, for yoghurts – by 5%, for soft drinks – by 13%, for coffee and drinks made from it – by 15% , for confectionery – by 8%, for ready-made breakfasts – up to 9.5%, for cookies – by 6%.
It is emphasized that new prices “are not immediately broadcast to store shelves,” since each request from manufacturers and suppliers to change prices is considered within 30 days, and agreements with counterparties to contain prices are possible.
At the same time, the Ministry of Agriculture stated that the situation “is under the special control of the ministry,” recognizing that the dynamics of prices for individual products not produced in the country depends on changes in exchange rates.
