Petersburg woman received a suspended sentence due to the death of a child in the bath. As reported in the united press service of the city courts, the criminal case came to a verdict on the second attempt.
According to the investigation, on March 8, a drunk woman left her young son in a bathtub filled with water. The child born in 2020 was left alone and choked, it follows from the case materials.
The lawyers insisted on the termination of the criminal prosecution under the articles on causing death by negligence and leaving in danger, with which the Krasnoselsky district court agreed, since the accused and the victim were reconciled. In November, a higher court overturned the decision and sent the materials for a new trial.
“The court sentenced him to imprisonment for a period of 1 year and 1 month conditionally with a probationary period of 2 years,” the department said.
The woman fully admitted guilt.
Recall that at the end of October in St. Petersburg, the mother left a feverish nine-month-old boy with a neighbor and went to work. Upon returning home, the woman found the child dead.
