Data published by VTsIOM on December 19 clearly demonstrate the spending plans of Russians to celebrate the upcoming New Year.
According to sociologists, average costs for food, gifts and entertainment increased by 16.4 thousand rubles compared to last year. Residents of Russia plan the biggest expenses on gifts – an average of 21.8 thousand rubles, writes Ridus.ru.
The cost of cultural events, tours and other types of entertainment for the New Year is about 20.4 thousand rubles. However, only every second respondent can name a specific amount of “leisure” expenses.
The most economical part of the New Year’s budget is the festive table, on which it is planned to spend 11.7 thousand rubles. In general, the average cost for the New Year is more than 54 thousand rubles, which becomes a record for such surveys.
It is interesting to note that from 2005 to 2021, Russians planned approximately the same expenses for a festive dinner, gifts and entertainment.
Men turned out to be more generous in their plans for the New Year than women – 71.4 thousand rubles versus 40.2 thousand. Among age groups, young people aged 18-24 expect to spend the most significant amount (72.6 thousand rubles), and over the years people become less wasteful. The wealthiest respondents plan to spend an average of 73.8 thousand rubles on New Year’s celebrations, with almost half of the amount going towards gifts.
