Nutritionist Bashkirova named the best food for the New Year’s feast

Nutritionist Elena Bashkirova told how to make the New Year’s table healthy and not harm your health. She offered a variety of ways to create a festive mood without dipping too much into food. This could be dancing, quests, board games or watching movies. The main thing is not to make the table the center of the evening.

The specialist also noted that it is necessary to calculate the amount of food taking into account the optimal portion for each person – about 400 grams. If there are a lot of hot dishes, snacks and desserts on the table, then there is a possibility of overeating. And food prepared in large quantities will have to be eaten throughout the next week, which can be harmful.

As the online publication “Moscow Region Today” writes, Bashkirova emphasized that salad dressings are the main trap on the holiday table. She recommends replacing store-bought mayonnaise with homemade mayonnaise, using variations using eggs, mustard, olive oil or lemon juice. Aquafaba or nut dressings are also good options, as are citrus juices, yogurt, berries or juicy vegetables.

Packaged drinks contain a lot of sugar and nothing healthy. You can replace them with freshly squeezed juices with pulp, prepare non-alcoholic mulled wine, or add a mint leaf, a wedge of lime or a sprig of tarragon to clean water.

The nutritionist also pointed out that alcohol reduces control over food and harms sleep. Therefore, it is better to limit yourself to 1-2 glasses of dry red wine. For dessert, according to Bashkirova, it is better to choose fruits or candies made from nuts, seeds and dried fruits, instead of regular sweets.
