Cow’s milk can be harmful to the human body. Scientists from the Netherlands made such a sensational statement, writes MedicForum.
Experts conducted a study involving more than 74 thousand people aged about 46 years. Scientists analyzed their habits and lifestyle, as well as the volume of consumption of dairy products, including yogurt, kefir, ice cream, and cheese. It turned out that consuming milk is associated with an increased risk of prediabetes.
The results of this study were commented on by Russian endocrinologist Zukhra Pavlova on Telegram. She agreed with the scientists’ arguments, noting that cow’s milk contains A1 casein, which in the human body is converted into the peptide beta-casomorphin 7. According to her, this peptide, when consumed regularly, slows down the motility of the gastrointestinal tract.
Pavlov was offered to replace milk with plant analogues, which do not contain the pest protein beta-casomorphin 7. Also, the doctor reassured, it is in fermented milk products, that is, you can safely consume kefir and yoghurts.
At the same time, Pavlova’s colleague, general practitioner Irina Andreeva, entered into an argument – she stated that milk should not be completely excluded from the diet. The doctor noted that if a person does not have milk intolerance, then milk in reasonable quantities is beneficial – it slows down the progression of osteoarthritis or inflammation of the joints in the knees in women.
