Russian President Vladimir Putin named the main tasks of the presidency. “The main thing is strengthening sovereignty, defense capability, security, ensuring the rights and freedoms of citizens, ensuring technological sovereignty,” the president noted, answering a question during a press conference that started in Gostiny Dvor.
“For a country like Russia, the existence, the simple existence of our country, without sovereignty is impossible. It simply won’t exist,” Putin added.
He also emphasized that Russia has a sufficient margin of economic strength to move forward. “It is ensured by the high consolidation of Russian society, the stability of the financial and economic system, and the increase in the power component,” the president emphasized.
According to him, the growth of the Russian economy at the end of the year is expected to be 3.5%, it has won back the decline and taken a serious step forward. At the same time, the real disposable income of the population is growing, the unemployment rate was 2.9% – this has never happened, the president added. The expected growth in real wages is 8%. Also, according to Putin, Russia’s external public debt is being reduced – from $46 billion to $32 billion.
Let us remind you that Putin sums up the results of the year in a combined format of a direct line and a large press conference in Gostiny Dvor. The total number of questions submitted to the president was about 2.5 million. Previously, the combined format of a direct line and a large press conference was used in 2020: the coronavirus pandemic did not allow holding events separately. In 2022, the direct line and press conference were not held.
