A minor died and two other people were injured after a landslide in Cotopaxi

The rains in the inter-Andean alley wreak havoc in several localities. This Monday the 13th, an adult and two minors were trapped by a landslide registered in a rural area of ​​the Sigchos canton, in Cotopaxi.

The ECU911 reported that the landslide and rocks were registered in the Culacusi village sector, on the afternoon of this Monday the 13th.

Community members of the sector helped to free those affected and then in a truck they were transferred to the basic hospital in Sigchos.

At the site, medical personnel confirmed the death of the 12-year-old child.

Meanwhile, an adult woman was in stable conditions in the process of recovery and another minor due to her critical condition was referred to a health home in Latacunga, reported Daniel Trujillo, from the Sigchos basic hospital.

Rodrigo Catota, a relative of the injured, said that the woman and the two minors aged 9 and 12 had gone out to collect firewood when it started to rain and subsequently the landslide occurred.

Last weekend, the severe storm caused a flood that seriously affected the Guano canton, Chimborazo province.

According to a balance from the Provincial Emergency Operations Committee, a total of 28 homes are affected and 5 destroyed, in addition 70% of second-order roads are found and 60% of the sewerage and sanitation network is damaged. (I)
