A bill banning abortions in private clinics was submitted to deputies for consideration. The document appeared in the database of the lower house of parliament.
The initiative was introduced by the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. The draft provides for amendments to the article “On the fundamentals of protecting the health of citizens.” It is proposed to add the line to it: “Artificial termination of pregnancy is carried out in medical organizations of the state and municipal health care system.”
According to the current law, pregnancy can be terminated at the request of the woman and with informed voluntary consent.
According to the authors of the new project, in private clinics there is no control over compliance with the procedure for providing medical care in the “obstetrics and gynecology” profile, the “week of silence” is not observed, and women are not consulted by a psychologist or lawyer. This explains the amendment.
At the same time, in recent months, officials have actively spoken out about the need to increase the birth rate. Against this background, in the Russian Federation, private clinics in some Russian regions, for example in the Kursk and Lipetsk regions, as well as Crimea, refused to perform abortions.
Earlier, the head of the Federation Council, Valentina Matvienko, promised that the state would not prohibit Russian women from having abortions.
