The National Assembly will call four officials to report on the actions taken and show the contingency plans after the regressive erosion of the Coca River, and also the solutions implemented to the viable problems in the country as a consequence of the winter.
Although the legislature from this December 16 welcomes a legislative recess for two weeks, the resolution approved with 98 votes, determines that the Ministers of Transport and Public Works, Marcelo Cabrera, of Energy and Non-Renewable Resources, Juan Carlos Bermeo; Petroecuador’s manager and the director of the National Risk Management Service must appear within a maximum period of 30 days.
The resolution proposed by the UNES legislator, Comps Córdova, and which received modifications before its approval, provides that the two ministers and the two officials must report the actions carried out within the framework of their powers regarding the damage and danger after the erosion of the river Coca in terms of roads, infrastructure and transportation of oil and the civilian population of Sucumbíos and Napo.

They must also present contingency plans and alternatives for a definitive solution to this problem generated since February 2, 2020, likewise, the Minister of Transport and Public Works must report on the solutions to the road problems faced by the entire country affected by the winter season.
The legislators urged the President of the Republic, Guillermo Lasso Mendoza, to declare a state of exception in the San Luis-San Rafael section in the provinces of Napo and Sucumbíos respectively, in order to provide a definitive solution to the road problem, of transportation of oil and relocation of the population of San Luis and the inhabitants along the banks of the Coca River
