Political parties are determined with candidates for participation in the presidential elections. As the Vedomosti newspaper writes, citing sources, the Communist Party of the Russian Federation and New People have already decided on candidates.
The communists are discussing the nomination of Nikolai Kharitonov. According to the publication, the party had three candidates – Gennady Zyuganov, Pavel Grudinin and Nikolai Kharitonov. The latter heads the committee for the development of the Far East and the Arctic. The party will make the final decision at the upcoming party congress on December 23.
The congress and the “New People” are scheduled for December 24. The party will probably be represented in the elections by leader Alexei Nechaev, the publication suggests. At the same time, the nomination of Vladislav Davankov and the ex-mayor of Yakutsk Sardana Avksentyeva was previously actively discussed, but it was decided to settle on Nechaev’s candidacy, the media writes.
According to the newspaper, the LDPR may nominate its chairman, Leonid Slutsky, and A Just Russia – For Truth has already announced its support for Putin, who is running in the elections as a self-nominated candidate. In addition, the participation in the elections of ex-SPS deputy Boris Nadezhdin from the non-parliamentary “Civil Initiative” is being discussed, the publication clarifies.
The Russian presidential elections are scheduled for March 17, 2024. Voting will take three days.
