Scholz accused Russia of rising gas prices in Europe – Medvedev responded sharply to him

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Deputy Head of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev entered into a “verbal skirmish”.

Speaking at the congress of the Social Democratic Party of Germany, Scholz blamed Russian President Vladimir Putin for the rise in energy costs in Europe, RIA Novosti writes.

He explained that Europe was missing 120 billion cubic meters of gas, and now the German government is forced to buy more gas from Norway and create LNG terminals, and this is much more expensive.

“Russia has cut off energy supplies to Europe. It was the Russian president who stopped gas supplies through a working gas pipeline,” the chancellor noted, emphasizing that the cessation of supplies led to serious consequences for energy prices – they had to pay 10 times more for gas on world markets than before.

Medvedev hastened to point out to Scholz. He sharply criticized Scholz’s words, calling them lies. “The German lies and doesn’t blush! They themselves rejected, they themselves abandoned their people because of hatred of Russia, and now they are dodging and lying,” Medvedev noted, the post was published on his page on the social network.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that German citizens agreed with the German government’s decision to finance Ukraine, accepting restrictions on gas supplies.

Let us add that analysts predicted a gas shortage in Europe in the event of a cold winter. So far, the European Union’s gas storage capacity remains approximately 100 billion cubic meters, they are 97% full, but if the winter is cold. Europe will have to resort to stopping part of its production capacity and further reducing the temperature in households, he believes.
