In St. Petersburg, snow removal from the roofs of socially significant objects has been completed

The executive authorities of St. Petersburg reported in the state information system “Objects of the Urban Environment” (GIS “OGS”) on the cleaning of the roofs of kindergartens, schools, clinics, hospitals and other objects important for residents of the Northern capital. Those responsible for cleaning, who are in charge of such non-residential buildings, began this work from the first days of the snowfall at the end of November, recall the Smolny press service.

The reporting system through the GIS “OGS” is already well developed. First, on behalf of the Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg, Evgeniy Razumishkin, GATI specialists create a cleaning task. The task is set for specific dates, taking into account weather conditions – for example, if heavy snowfall or sudden warming is predicted. After this, the responsible persons carry out the cleaning, take photos of the work done and upload the report to the system. Control is carried out by the supervising agency – it can accept or reject the report if it notices violations. At the same time, GATI specialists conduct additional selective control of reports.

For the current task in the GIS “OGS” for cleaning the roofs of socially significant objects, reports on all 4,775 non-residential buildings under the jurisdiction of executive authorities were loaded into the system.

Meanwhile, road workers are now focusing on the fight against slipperiness. To ensure the safety of motorists and pedestrians, de-icing materials are used on the roadway and sidewalks. Each enterprise independently decides what means to treat surfaces, depending on the situation in a particular area and microclimate.

Since the beginning of the current winter season, more than 446 thousand cubic meters of snow have already been removed from the streets of St. Petersburg, of which about 281 thousand cubic meters were received by snow melting points. The leaders were the snow melting point on Furniture Street (42 thousand cubic meters) and the snow collection point on Vzletnaya Street (55.5 thousand cubic meters).

Today, the streets in the city are cleaned by 853 units of equipment and 894 manual workers. In parks, squares and street landscaping areas, paths and areas are cleaned by 929 specialists and 273 machines from gardening companies.

According to the forecast of the chief weather forecaster of St. Petersburg, Alexander Kolesov, on December 7, an unpleasant wind will be added to the frost. Against the background of the anticyclone, atmospheric pressure continues to rise – today it will reach 772 mmHg, and tomorrow it will rise to 780 mmHg. It will begin to decrease on Saturday under the influence of the western cyclone.

“Temperature distribution across the area continues to be very varied. Today in the center and north of St. Petersburg -11…-13 degrees, but in the south, where the sky opened, the air temperature immediately dropped to -15…-19 degrees. In the Volosovo area and the village of Siversky it is even lower, up to -21…-23 degrees,” Kolesov said. However, warming is expected early next week.
