How to remove paint stains from clothes

Have your clothes been stained with paint? You should know that the various types of paints adhere differently to each type of fabric, so you should not risk buying any stain remover like crazy, as you could damage the garment in question. Fill a bucket or basin in which you can submerge the garment, especially the stained area for a minute, with warm water. In a separate container, pour the same amount of vinegar as ammonia and add a little salt. In this step we recommend the use of gloves and have the ventilated area.

1. Isopropyl alcohol: There is no difference between the cleaning methods for white and dark clothes. The first consideration that you must take into account is that white clothing requires a more careful application of the products, since new stains can be created in addition to taking the original color and leaving the clothing yellow. First, soak the paint stain with rubbing alcohol. To scrape the paint you can use a coin, a stick or another object to remove the stain as much as possible. Then put it in the washing machine, doing the usual washing.

2. Detergent for washing clothes by hand or dishwasher: Turn the garment over and place it under the running tap with warm water, turning to cold. Meanwhile, add hot water and a little dish soap or detergent to a bowl for hand washing. Take a cloth or sponge and dip it in the soapy water solution and lightly rub the stained area without turning it over at any time. Once you make sure the stain is gone, rinse it off with lukewarm water and see if the garment is machine washable and wash regularly.

How to remove dried paint from clothes

How to clean oil-based paint stains

Cleaning oil-based paint stains is a tedious task, but not impossible. Just follow the steps that we have advised you in the previous section to moisten the garment in a basin, but this time with cold water so as not to risk that the paint adheres more to the fabric.

It is important that you have stayed in soaking at least for a few hours or the night before if possible. After hours of soaking, first hand wash the stain area with a hand wash detergent and scrub firmly until the stain is thoroughly diluted. Next, and with the help of a cloth or sponge, moisten the area with white spirit and scrub the entire stained area with the product. For greater efficiency we advise you to carry out the process repeatedly, taking great care that the fabric is not delicate or fine.

Once you verify that the stain has disappeared, rinse the remains of the white spirit on the garment with warm water and wash as usual.

Another way to treat oil-based paint stains is with glycerin. The glycerin It contains very powerful chemical agents that will make the stain disappear. You just have to apply a little glycerin on the stain and leave it on overnight. The next day, rinse it as we have advised and wash it in the washing machine.

In case the paint resists

Dampen a disc of ethyl alcohol cotton and rub gently but firmly on the stained area until the cotton has acquired the same color as the stain, the same process that we carry out with nail polish remover.

If necessary, rub with a hand wash detergent lightly with a soft bristle brush, to work more deeply into the fibers of the fabric, taking special care that it is not a fine and delicate fabric, since you could tear those fibers and undo the seam if you rub too hard.

Finally, rinse the garment well with warm water and wash as recommended by the garment manufacturer. Let it dry in the sun and do not forget to check first if the stain has already disappeared.
