Since the beginning of 2023, specialists from the Main Directorate for Migration Issues (GUVM) of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs have refused to issue invitations to enter the country to more than 5 thousand foreign citizens, which is 90% more than in 2022, Interfax reports.
“Taking into account the work carried out by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia to suppress the channels of illegal migration, an increase in refusals to provide the state service of issuing invitations to enter the Russian Federation continues (+88%; 5.6 thousand),” says the analytical report of the Main Directorate for Migration on the results of the unit’s activities for January — October 2023.
The number of invitations issued remained at the level of the same period in 2022 (234.4 thousand; +0.3%).
The Main Directorate for Migration and Migration recorded an almost 60 percent increase in the number of migrants who arrived in Russia on a visa to work.
Since the beginning of the year, there has been a decrease in temporary residence permits issued to foreigners (-53.7%; 71.9 thousand) and residence permits (-12.1%; 227.6 thousand). In the same time 30% more work permits were issued to foreigners (80.7 thousand), patents were issued and issued (+4.5%; 2 million).
Since the beginning of the year, about 70 thousand foreign citizens have been expelled from Russia; based on decisions of internal affairs bodies, 138 thousand foreign citizens (+18.6%) are not allowed to enter the country.
