“There is no contact with them, whether they are dead or alive is unknown”: Russians lost in Gaza

Some Russians in the Gaza Strip cannot be contacted. This was stated by the press secretary of the Russian mission to the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) Aliya Zaripova, TASS reports.

According to her, diplomats have not yet verified the information about the death of a Russian citizen in the enclave. What happens to the Russians who cannot be contacted is unknown. Whether they are alive or dead, there is no information about this.

Zaripova added that the evacuation of Russian citizens continues, and the lists are being updated. “We cannot predict how long it will take to evacuate the remaining Russians, since exit lists are approved by parties. The evacuation will last as long as necessary,” Zaripova added.

Today, December 3, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that another 133 Russians and members of their families passed through the Rafah checkpoint. They are now receiving medical and psychological assistance, as well as assistance with paperwork. Then they will be delivered to Moscow.

Let us recall that the escalation of the conflict between Israel and Hamas began on October 7 after rocket attacks by the radical Palestinian movement on Israeli territory and the capture of a number of settlements bordering the Gaza Strip. It was reported that more than 1,400 Israelis were killed, most of them civilians. Hamas militants also took a large number of hostages. In response, the Israeli authorities blockaded the Gaza Strip and began bombing the enclave. According to Gaza’s health ministry, more than 12,000 people have been killed in the strip since Israeli bombing began. According to WHO, 40% of the dead were children.
