Due to blocking of borders by Polish carriers, more than 2.5 thousand trucks have accumulated on the Polish-Ukrainian border. This was reported by the representative of the State Border Service of Ukraine Andrey Demchenko.
He explained that the possibility of movement was blocked in the directions of several checkpoints – Yagodin, Krakovets, Rava-Russkaya and Shegini. At the same time, the largest number of vehicles accumulated at the Rava-Russkaya checkpoint – 850, as well as congestion in the Krakovets and Shegini directions, and at the Yagodin checkpoint.
Demchenko added that the movement of humanitarian cargo is ongoing, but in a “small quantitative manner.”
Earlier it was reported that by December 2, the line of trucks reached 78 km. And because of the protests, Ukraine’s export volume in freight transport decreased by 40%, noted the country’s Minister of Economy Yulia Sviridenko.
The day before, the media wrote that since November 6, several dozen Polish carriers have blocked the movement of trucks at the three largest checkpoints on the border with Ukraine. The reason is competition amid the liberalization of international transport between Ukraine and the EU. Polish carriers demand the abolition of the benefits that the EU provided to their colleagues from Ukraine, as well as the restoration of the previous procedure for licensing Ukrainian commercial vehicles.
