Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov made a complaint against the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. They attended the opening day dinner but fled the OSCE ministerial meeting.
According to Lavrov, the night before yesterday everyone came for dinner and took pictures. “Well, it was the day before, a get-together: to come, drink good Macedonian wine, have a snack. And the opening was the next morning. All countries are represented there behind their signs, including the Russian Federation,” Lavrov noted, adding that neither the Ukrainian minister nor the ministers of Poland and the Baltic countries were present at the event.
“As I understand it, Blinken and Borrell also left. Why is this happening? They probably believe that by doing so they emphasize their intention to isolate Russia. But I believe that they are simply cowardly, afraid of any honest conversation with the facts in hand,” the minister said.
He also added that Blinken fled Skopje, where the OSCE Ministerial Council meeting was being held. “I didn’t run away anywhere,” Lavrov emphasized.
Let us remind you that the foreign ministers of the OSCE participating countries gathered in North Macedonia.
Previously, Lavrov stated that the OSCE needs to resume mutually respectful and equal dialogue between participating states and observe the fundamental rule of consensus, then the organization may emerge from the crisis.
