“Speak” to a coin, eat from a wooden utensil, and don’t complain: Russians were told about the signs for December 1

December 1, according to the popular calendar, is the day of veneration of Plato and Roman the Winter Guides. According to signs, on this day they judged the weather for the whole winter, and Roman and Plato were asked to help survive it and give a good harvest next fall, writes the portal sovainfo.ru.

“Plato and Roman fill my pocket full of money,” they prayed in Rus’, holding a large denomination coin in their hands, which they then carried with them throughout the year and did not spend.

On this day, unmarried girls told fortunes about their betrothed – they went into the forest, hugged the strongest and tallest tree and left their scarf on the branches. In the evening, the girls returned and checked – if there was no shawl, then they were destined to get married in the new year.

Even December 1 was considered not the best day for working together, signing agreements on mergers of enterprises and other agreements on creating a common business. On this day it was forbidden to eat from any utensils other than wooden ones, otherwise, as it was believed, quarrels and problems with money could be brought into the family. In addition, on this day it was forbidden to wash dirty dishes after dinner for a stranger – only the mistress of the house had to do this. Otherwise, the guests could wash away the well-being and happiness from the family.

Also, on December 1, according to signs, you should not throw away or give your children’s toys, since along with them you can give away the child’s good luck. And on this day you don’t need to complain and get angry, so as not to attract even more troubles into your life.
