Ambato
National Police officers apprehended a subject who would be the material author of the murder of a 22-year-old girl who worked as a sex worker in the vicinity of 12 de Noviembre Park, in the center of Ambato.
According to Colonel Marco Muñoz, commander of Subzone 18 of the National Police in Tungurahua, as a result of investigation and intelligence, the uniformed officers detained Vagner V. (22), who was allegedly linked to the crime of Joselyn S.
The crime occurred on November 29 on Mera and November 12 streets. As a result, another woman was injured.
The police chief added that, within the investigations, the personnel of the National Directorate for the Investigation of Crimes Against Life, Violent Deaths, Disappearances, Kidnapping and Extortion (Dinased) obtained the arrest warrant for Vagner V. for investigative purposes to clarify violent death.
In the investigations, which included taking the version of the injured woman, it was determined that the detainee was apparently riding the motorcycle used for the crime.
The officer commented that the 35-year-old detainee is of Ecuadorian nationality and has a record of micro-trafficking.
Two people participated in this crime: one would be the one now arrested and the other would be the one who drove the motorcycle. For now, work is being done on identifying that person.
The Police presume that the crime would be motivated by the control of the territory for drug micro-trafficking.
Uniformed personnel maintain operations in the area in order to prevent those engaged in sex work and caring for these people from engaging in micro-trafficking activities. In previous days, a subject who was trying to dispense drugs was arrested, it was indicated.

Muñoz also reported that staff from the Ambato Norte district detained Robinson P. (33), who had a valid ticket for a homicide that occurred in Quitumbe, Quito.
