Consternation in Loja over the death of a religious and pastoral youth who were in an accident bus

In Loja there is consternation over the death of a nun and young people who were traveling in a bus from the Loja Transport Cooperative, which crashed over the weekend.

This tragic accident caused the death of 18 people and injured 25 who were traveling on the Macas – Loja route.

Marjorie Jaramillo, one of the victims of the accident, was remembered by her colleagues and friends from the Youth Ministry of the Diocese of Loja. “She was a brave young Lojan woman committed to serving her neighbor and God,” said her acquaintances.

She was a student of the Environmental Engineering career at SPOCH, based in Morona Santiago. His family was very affected.

The congregation of social missionary sisters of the church expressed solidarity with the vicariate of El Puyo, especially with the congregation of Teresitas Sisters, in the face of the loss of the missionary Martha Emerita Villamagua Pinto. The cooperative of the crashed bus extended its condolences to the families and friends of the victims and indicated that the families will be compensated according to the insurance they have (around $ 2,500 to $ 5,000).

Jimmy Quezada, who was performing as the bus controller, died in the accident. The driver who was driving the bus is missing. “We don’t know where he is and his phone is off,” said Polibio Vélez, former manager of the transportation company, and he hopes that with the investigators’ expertise it will be possible to conclude what happened.

According to Vélez, of the 18 deceased, 16 bodies have been removed and 2 are still in the Sucúa hospital morgue and do not have identification. “They are supposed to be from the (Macas) sector,” he said.
