The Russian Guard and the police arrived in the village of Nevskaya Dubrovka in the Leningrad Region, whose residents are protesting against the construction of a waste recycling plant. This is reported by the portal “Aktivatika”, recalling that today in Dubrovka a popular gathering was to take place, canceled by the residents of the village themselves. They decided to apply for an agreed meeting, to which residents of nearby settlements should also go.
“We regard this as a response from the authorities to the social request of local residents to respect their rights to environmental well-being,” local activists comment on the situation. – It becomes unrealistic to defend your rights. The activists received warnings that riot police would come in case of a repeat of a single spontaneous impulse, which, we repeat, no one organized. ”
Ironically, as activists remind, it is today that Russia celebrates Constitution Day.
A week ago, a popular gathering took place in Nevskaya Dubrovka, which was attended by hundreds of people. Dubrovites assume that the location for the new facility has been chosen based on transport convenience considerations. This plant raises questions not only among the residents of the village: a few days ago it became known that the Leningrad Region Committee for Waste Management demanded that the tender for the design of waste processing plants in the Leningrad Region be canceled as premature. The Committee recalls that these plots belong to the lands of the forest fund, therefore, their transfer to a different status is possible only after the permission of the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin. Moreover, the sites on which the construction of the complexes is planned are not included in the territorial waste management scheme.
