Parental fees for kindergarten in St. Petersburg in 2024 will remain at the 2023 level. As RosBalt was informed by the press service of Smolny, this decision was made at a working meeting of Governor Alexander Beglov with members of the city government.
“By the decision of the President of Russia, 2024 was declared the Year of the Family in our country. Our attention will be particularly focused on supporting family, motherhood and childhood. We know that any family where a child is born immediately faces many additional expenses. At the moment, I consider increasing parental fees an untimely step. It is necessary to find the required amount in the city budget. We will not save on children,” emphasized Alexander Beglov.
To compensate for the costs of kindergartens associated with increased inflation, the city budget will need to allocate 116.6 million rubles.
Today, 262,443 children attend preschool institutions in St. Petersburg. For some categories of parents, there are already benefits that either completely exempt them from paying for kindergarten or compensate from 20% to 70% of expenses. In addition, at the city level, fees for children whose parents take part in a special military operation have been abolished. Such families also have priority rights to enroll their children in kindergartens.
