The young model who was found dead in a building in the Basbasquillo citadel, in Manta, had reported an alleged crime of rape prior to her death.
The woman, identified as Naomi Michell Arcentales Sabando, would have committed suicide with a cable inside an apartment on the 13th floor where a five-star hotel also operates. The find was reported around 8:00 p.m. last Sunday.
Said property is a horizontal property that belongs to the partner of the deceased, said Carlos Segovia, a lawyer for the Ecuabau company, who also ruled out that she was a hotel guest.
Jorge Luis Ortega, the lawyer who was handling the case for the alleged sexual crime, announced through his twitter account that the judicial process was being maintained and that it will continue, although he did not specify against whom the complaint was filed.
“He had denounced an alleged violation and deficiencies in the investigation of the State Attorney General’s Office … Victims of sexual crimes must have permanent and effective psychological support,” wrote the lawyer.
He even shared part of the extract or police report indicating that the cause or type of crime that caused his death was suicide.
Around noon on Monday the 13th, the body of Arcentales was removed by his relatives from the Manta forensic center after the autopsy. Her remains were taken to Pedernales, the city where she was from.
Kenny Solórzano, a lawyer for the Arcentales family, indicated that the autopsy determined that the cause of the young woman’s death was by hanging. “That is still established by the investigation (time that she had been deceased after being found), it seems that there was already a cadaverous rigidity, but we must wait for the entire investigation that the Prosecutor’s Office is carrying out,” added Solórzano.
The partner of the deceased, who also works as a prosecutor in the north of Manabí, has already made a first contribution of statements within the preliminary inquiries that the Police carried out at the time of gathering evidence.
The young woman allegedly had an argument with her partner, hours before the incident, but the police are continuing to investigate to establish the motivations for the alleged suicide.
Since midnight on Sunday, the prosecutor who is attributed is the partner of the deceased young woman placed a photo of Arcentales next to a black ribbon on her Facebook account. One of the last graphs observed together with the couple was published on November 20 on the account of this social network of the prosecutor from Portoviejo.
