Preventive prison for nine involved in the attack on UPC de Esmeraldas

Starting at noon on Monday the 13th, a burning chapel will be held with the remains of the police who died in an attack.

Nine people must serve preventive detention for the attack on the Community Police Unit of the La Guacharaca neighborhood, west of Esmeraldas, and for the crime against a police officer that occurred in that place. That was determined by Judge Sabina Hernández, last Sunday night.

The judicial hearing was held at the Community Surveillance Unit (UVC), located next to the Subzone 8 National Police Command.

Under a strong police guard, with the assistance of Fausto Salinas, general director of Citizen Security and Public Order, and the prosecutor on duty, the diligence was carried out for approximately six hours.

After the litigating parties made their expositions and presented their arguments, the judge ordered the firm arrest for investigations of the nine suspects.

In the event, Sergeant Duesis Valencia Caicedo, 42, died and Sergeant Neri Mina Castro, 38, was injured while they were on duty at UPC La Guacharaca, early Sunday morning.

The arrests of the accused, including the alleged perpetrator of the murder of the policeman, were carried out during six raids in the Emerald capital. As evidence, a submachine gun, a revolver and other evidence were found.

Salinas said that they await the application of justice with the respective sanctions to those responsible for the murder of the police server and the attack with damage to the infrastructure of the UPC.

Military personnel together with the police will reinforce security in the La Guacharaca sector and 20 de Noviembre, it was known.

Chapel burning to murdered police officer

Police personnel reported that starting at noon on Monday the 13th there will be a burning chapel for the police servant Duesis Valencia Caicedo, in the Subzone 8 Command of Esmeraldas.

The wake is held at his home in the Codesa neighborhood, located a few blocks from the police command, after the body was delivered to the Zone 1 Forensic Center.

Members of the National Police arrived this morning at the house to deliver the flag and symbols of the institution to the family of the deceased uniformed man.

The burial is scheduled for the afternoon of Monday the 13th in the Solange private cemetery, in the provincial capital, reported his companions. (I)
