The decree on the celebration was signed in January 1998, since then on this day Russian mothers receive congratulations and gifts, themed events are held in cities, and family dinners are organized at home. The symbol of the holiday in the Russian Federation is a teddy bear and a forget-me-not. This flower is believed to have the magical power of bringing back memories to people who have forgotten about their loved ones.

The holiday is also celebrated in St. Petersburg. An art object dedicated to one of mother’s main pieces of advice: “don’t forget to wear a hat” has appeared in the Northern capital. A list of gifts that Russians most often give in honor of Mother’s Day has also been compiled. Mothers are given flowers, confectionery and perfumes, a survey from the Megamarket marketplace showed.

The most desired gifts are flowers, gift certificates, money, perfumes, confectionery, jewelry and jewelry.

The survey shows that women aged 25-34 prefer electronics and personal care products, while mothers aged 35-44 value hobby products, books and electronics more. Mothers aged 45-60 would also like to receive hobby supplies, books, as well as coffee and tea, RT reports.

In general, 71% of citizens of both sexes from 25 to 60 years old know about Mother’s Day in Russia. At the same time, 35% prepare gifts, and 17% organize a family celebration.
