The Palestinian Hamas movement released 12 Thai citizens from captivity. This was announced by the Prime Minister of this country Settha Thavisin, RBC reports.
“The Department of Security and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have confirmed that 12 Thai hostages have already been released. Embassy staff are going to pick them up in an hour,” he wrote on his page on social networks.
At the same time, the Egyptian State Information Service reported that, in addition to 12 Thai citizens, 13 Israelis, including women and children, were released.
The Thai and Israeli hostages later crossed the border into Egypt, The Times of Israel and Haaretz reported. According to the latter, the Thais are being sent to the Israeli Shamir Medical Center.
Al Jazeera notes that Hamas’s hostages in Gaza included at least 23 people from Thailand who were captured during the October 7 attack on Israel. According to the Thai authorities, at the time of the attack, about 30 thousand Thais were employed in Israel, mainly in agricultural work.
According to the TV channel, after the hostages were released, trucks with humanitarian aid began to enter the Gaza Strip from Egypt.
