The “smart” tram “Dovlatov” was launched in St. Petersburg after the “Dostoevsky”

The second unique retro tram, the Dovlatov, has arrived in St. Petersburg, Governor Alexander Beglov reported on his VKontakte page.

This is a two-section modification of the Dostoevsky retro tram, which is already in use in the center of the Northern capital. Like its three-section predecessor, it was developed at Uraltranmash JSC, and takes into account the peculiarities of operation on the narrow and winding streets of the historical center of St. Petersburg: height differences, curvature of tracks and turning angles. The new tram fits organically into the panorama of the central part of the city: it is stylized in the fashion of the 1950s-60s characteristic of this type of transport, and is similar in appearance to the Stilyaga tram, which previously ran in Leningrad.

It is noteworthy that when determining the final appearance and color scheme of the new trams, the authorities turned to the townspeople for advice – and listened to their wishes. This practice has already become permanent for Governor Beglov: on his personal page on VKontat, polls and voting are often held on topics relevant to the city, and recently the head of the city gave a trip to the “Russia” exhibition in Moscow to the author of the most popular commentary on city attractions.

At the same time, Dovlatov is a modern and comfortable transport. Like Dostoevsky, it was purchased as part of a long-term program for updating urban electric transport, which was approved by the governor. It provides for the purchase of 314 trolleybuses, as well as 255 low-floor “smart trams”. In addition, the city is in full swing to modernize tram tracks to make them noiseless.

Behind the “historical” appearance of the Dovlatov tram lies a “smart” filling: in particular, it is equipped with an active safety complex based on Russian developments of artificial intelligence technology Cognitive Pilot, the retro body is made of modern composite materials, and an interactive window is installed in the cabin -White Nights screen with navigation and tourist information.

As Alexander Beglov explained, the Dovlatov series cars will serve routes No. 3, 6, 16 and 40. They will enter the line in 2024, after running-in. In total, the contract provides for the supply of 12 Dovlatov trams and 42 Dostoevsky trams.

Let us note that the city program for the development of environmentally friendly vehicles is not limited to trams and trolleybuses. So, recently in St. Petersburg they began testing a new electric bus called “Electrocity”. It runs on route No. 7 (Nalichnaya Street – Ploshchad Vosstaniya metro station). By the end of the year, the city also plans to put into operation the first stage of a fleet for electric buses in the Rzhevka industrial zone, which will allow the transportation of more than 102 thousand passengers.
