A 72-year-old pensioner was detained in Perm for attempting to set fire to a military registration and enlistment office.

Perm police detained a local resident while trying to set fire to the military registration and enlistment office of the Motovilikha and Ordzhonikidze districts using an incendiary mixture. According to RBC, this was reported by the Properm portal with reference to sources and the SHOT telegram channel.

The incident, according to the portal, occurred the day before at about 21:30 local time (19:30 Moscow time). A 72-year-old man tried to set fire to the military registration and enlistment office; a criminal case was opened against him under Part 2 of Art. 167 of the Criminal Code (deliberate destruction or damage to property for hooligan reasons or in a generally dangerous manner, including by arson). The maximum penalty under this part of the article is five years in prison.

According to the portal, shortly before these events, unknown people wrote to the man in the Viber messenger. They scared him with debts and demanded that he set fire to the military registration and enlistment office, the newspaper writes.

SHOT claims that the 72-year-old artistic director of the folk singing ensemble of one of the local Houses of Culture tried to set fire to the military registration and enlistment office. According to the channel, the man threw a Molotov cocktail at the door of the military registration and enlistment office, but it flew off and fell into the snow. After this, he was detained by a local police officer.

The Telegram channel writes that the pensioner received a call from an unknown number; the caller introduced himself to him as an investigator from the Tagansky Department of Internal Affairs. The attacker stated that loans in the amount of 350 thousand and 1.5 million rubles had been issued to the pensioner, and offered to write them off after following the instructions.
