The Ukrainian Embassy in Poland sent a note to the Polish Foreign Ministry demanding to unblock the border for Ukrainian cargo carriers after it became known about the death of the second driver in line in front of the Korcheva checkpoint, said the head of the diplomatic mission Vasily Zvarych.
The queue arose due to protests by Polish carriers, which have been ongoing since November 6. The Ukrainian embassy also contacted the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the administration of Poland, RBC reports.
“Restrictions on the movement of cargo transportation by Polish protesters pose a threat to the life and health of people and cause a significant threat to the safety and order of traffic on public roads. <…> Everyone has the right to protest and defend their position. But the chosen form, time and duration of collection in difficult weather conditions create a real threat to life and health, as well as the safety of people,” Zvarych wrote on social networks.
Since November 6, Polish carriers have been closing three border crossings on the border with Ukraine. They demand the restoration of restrictions on transport operations for Ukrainian carriers that were in force before the start of the military operation. Changes in the rules for Ukrainian carriers have led to the fact that their services have become cheaper, and their European colleagues are experiencing problems against this background.
