On Wednesday, November 22, the St. Petersburg Legislative Council considered in the first reading the bill on the new General Plan of the city. This was reported by the press service of the office of the Vice-Governor of the Northern capital Nikolai Lynchenko.
The document is designed until 2040 and contains information on the forecast period until 2050. In his report, Lynchenko called the General Plan the basis “for further decision-making on the construction of transport, engineering, social infrastructure and housing construction.” Thus, the document indicates 120 metro stations and lobbies. “The main objective of the Master Plan is to ensure sustainable development of the territories,” added the vice-governor.
The draft of the new urban planning document was approved at a meeting of the St. Petersburg government on October 31, and on November 3 it was submitted to the Legislative Assembly for consideration. On November 14, the bill was considered by the commission on urban planning, land and property issues as part of parliamentary hearings.
The new master plan, among other things, provides for the construction of about 67 million square meters in St. Petersburg. m of housing, six shopping centers and five new bridges across the Neva.
