Neurologist, chief freelance specialist in primary health care for adults at the Moscow Department of Health, Andrei Tyazhelnikov, commented on the symptoms of an incomprehensible cold in some Russians that does not go away for several weeks.
A number of patients, according to media reports, were faced with an unknown long-term illness with a cough, severe fatigue and a temperature of up to 37.5 degrees. At the same time, people tested negative for coronavirus.
According to the doctor, a prolonged cold does not mean that it is a new disease. Tyazhelnikov noted that sometimes a person can get sick from different infections one after another or several at the same time.
Tyazhelnikov, in a conversation with Moscow 24, also recalled that the flu is known for its insidious complications, and the coronavirus can develop into a post-Covid syndrome. The doctor expressed the opinion that a prolonged runny nose or cough may be a consequence of reduced immunity or improper treatment.
In addition, he noted that people generally get sick for a long time when they are treated with folk remedies, do not consult doctors or do not follow their recommendations. “It seems to a person that he is suffering from some new, previously unknown virus, but in fact he is simply not completely cured,” Tyazhelnikov concluded.
