“I understood that it wouldn’t be like in 2015. Firstly, the results in terms of density have greatly improved. It wouldn’t have been possible to just swim and get into the finals. But I’m not ready to train as hard as I did before, because I wanted to spend more time with my children and my family.” — Fesikova said.
According to her 34-year-old husband, he no longer has any competitive ambitions. “I no longer get those emotions, even while in the training process. I’m full. Maybe some kind of motivation, some kind of goal is needed, but in the current conditions, if we are realistic, this will probably be enough,” Fesikov said.
Fesikova won silver in the 200m backstroke in London. She is also a world champion and four-time European champion. Her husband became a bronze medalist in the 4x100m freestyle relay at the 2012 Games. Fesikov is also a world champion and two-time European champion.
