In Slovakia, carriers are blocking the movement of trucks through the Wisne Nemecke checkpoint on the Slovak-Ukrainian border, adjacent to the Ukrainian Uzhgorod checkpoint. As Interfax reports, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported this with reference to Slovak border guards.
The protest began in the middle of the day on November 21. According to border guards, the blockade was initiated and carried out by the Union of Carriers of Slovakia. The duration of the promotion has not been announced.
On the territory of Slovakia, in front of the Wisne Nemecke checkpoint in the direction of Ukraine, there are about 300 trucks in line. According to the State Border Service, buses and cars cross the border as usual.
There are two automobile border checkpoints on the border between Ukraine and Slovakia. In addition to “Vyshne-Nemetske – Uzhgorod”, this is “Ublya – Maly Berezny”.
Since November 6, due to a protest by Polish carriers, traffic through three checkpoints on the border between Ukraine and Poland has been partially blocked. Since November 21, protesters have threatened to block another checkpoint on the border between the two countries.
Carriers demand the abolition of the “transport visa-free” for Ukrainian truckers, a return to issuing permits to them and a reduction in their number to the level before February 2022, when up to 200 thousand permits were issued per year.
