Erdogan threatens Israel with genocide lawsuit in Gaza

Türkiye is preparing a lawsuit over genocide in the Gaza Strip. This was stated by Turkish President Recep Erodoğan at the 62nd General Assembly of the National Student Union of Turkey, Anadolu Agency reports.

“We will file a complaint about this genocide with the necessary authorities with the participation of more than two thousand lawyers. We will monitor this, we cannot leave it aside,” Erodoğan said.

It should be noted that on November 14, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Istanbul sent a criminal case against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the Turkish Ministry of Justice, demanding that he appear before the International Criminal Court for genocide. The next day, November 15, Erdogan called Israel a terrorist organization and predicted Israel’s disappointment with the results of the war with Hamas. In response, the Israeli Prime Minister accused the Turkish President of supporting terrorism.

Let us recall that the escalation of the conflict between Israel and Hamas began on October 7 after rocket attacks by the radical Palestinian movement on Israeli territory and the capture of a number of settlements bordering the Gaza Strip. It was reported that more than 1,400 Israelis were killed, most of them civilians. Hamas militants also took a large number of hostages. In response, the Israeli authorities blockaded the Gaza Strip and continue bombing the enclave. According to Gaza’s health ministry, more than 11,000 people have been killed in the strip since Israeli bombing began. According to WHO, 40% of the dead were children. Currently, the Gaza Strip is blocked – there is no electricity, no Internet, and the supply of heat and water has been interrupted.
