Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed a decree according to which more than 13.8 billion rubles will be additionally allocated to low-income families in the regions of Russia.
The money was allocated for “the payment of monthly benefits for children from 8 to 17 years old who grow up in single-parent families,” according to a statement on the website of the Cabinet.
“For single mothers and fathers, this is an important help in raising children,” the prime minister said on December 8 at a government meeting.
Let us also recall that analysts from the Central Bank of the Russian Federation believe that, from a social and economic point of view, a more preferable alternative to price regulation may be the provision of targeted material assistance to the poorest strata of the population.
Earlier, Rosstat calculated the “poverty lines” in Russia for the first time and presented a newly measured indicator of the share of the poor. According to the statistics department, in the third quarter of 2021 there were 16 million people below the poverty line, or 11% (the statistical “poverty level”).
