Marketing, sales, assertive communication, social network management, leadership, public speaking and more were the topics of training for 60 entrepreneurs from the free “Makers 2023” program, who will be selling their products at the “Makers Market” starting this Saturday, November. 18 , from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., in the Historical Park, thanks to the valuable support of the Office of the Mayor of Samborondón.

This was a training program promoted by the Embassy and Consulate of the United States in Ecuador, and had the academic support of ECOTEC University, the support of the Líderes Hub – Leadership Network and several international and national organizations such as the Harvard Business School MOC Competitiveness Global Network and the Youth Volunteer Group Global Shapers Guayaquil, a global community initiative of the World Economic Forum. During the inauguration of the program, representatives of allied organizations participated along with authorities such as Mayor Juan José Yúnez and the Consul General of the United States, Erik Martini. Also, the altruistic work of the experts who gave the classes, who represented the public and private sectors, civil society organizations and the academic community, was also recognized.

The US Embassy, ​​through its Press and Culture Section, offers a variety of recreational, cultural and free training activities. “Makers 2023” is part of one of the activities offered to the community for the period 2023-2024 and developed by members of “Inspira Ecuador”, a community of more than 10,000 former scholars from the program funded by the United States Department of State. United States, such as Fulbright alumni, YLAI, ICFJ and others. The characteristic of these programs is that this alumni community shares what they learned in their exchanges in the United States at the local level, voluntarily, to help more Ecuadorians realize their dreams of prosperity in their own country.

The Makers program had three phases. First, users received introductory lectures by national experts in priority areas for training entrepreneurs, with an emphasis on marketing and sales. In the second phase, the impact of the main talks is enhanced by the development of personalized advice for entrepreneurs from academics, entrepreneurs, business people and local leaders, with the aim of being able to answer questions about their specific cases. And finally, the practitioners were ready to improve the communication of their companies and apply the acquired knowledge in selling their products at the “Makers Market”.

Entrance to the Historical Park to visit the market is free, and we will have two musical performances. At the market, you’ll find food, arts and crafts, textiles, stationery, Christmas-themed products and more, all made by interns from the national level program. The beneficiaries are from Guayaquil, Samborondón and surrounding areas, so we hope that the positive results of this day will benefit families from several provinces served in the coastal region by the United States Consulate in Ecuador.
