The “hair training” challenge that is spreading on TikTok will not help you achieve beautiful hair and can lead to problems with your scalp, dermatovenereologist and trichologist Yulia Nagaitseva told the 360 portal. Also, the appearance of a person who is fond of such practices will be unkempt.
According to the specialist, advice to wash your hair only once or twice a month is harmful: every day street dirt, house dust, particles of animal hair, etc. settle on a person’s hair. All this is mixed with sweat and sebum secreted by the skin. If the mixture resulting from mixing all this is not washed off for a long time, problems will arise – itching will begin, and the hair will fall out in clumps.
Such challenges threaten people suffering from dermatitis and dermatoses with even more tragic consequences: their chronic diseases may worsen.
As the doctor explained, there is no “hair training” by changing the frequency of washing your hair – you won’t be able to “accustom” your scalp or hair to cleansing more rarely, since this does not affect the production of sebum.
The frequency of washing your hair depends on the type of oily hair: for oily hair it is quite natural to wash your hair daily (and sometimes in the morning and evening), for normal hair – two to three times a week. People with dry scalps can wash their hair once every five to seven days.
