Responsibility is a bad word, a difficult slogan, no doubt; It is an appeal to ethics and therefore, for many, a matter of preaching. But no. The truth is that this is an important issue without which there is no family, no education, and no country. Neither economy, nor legality. Not even civilized life.
The principle of responsibility is a key factor for understanding the exercise of power in democratic systems. This is the central point in the concept of the Republic. That borders on abuse. This is what gives meaning to the rule of law. This is what makes the Act a dispassionate statute, aimed at promoting the welfare of the community.
Without responsibility, freedom will be licentiousness, the state will be an artifact in the service of groups and budding leaders. Without it, solidarity will not be possible, the position of legislators and leaders will be miniature, justice will be revenge, and citizenship a fiction.
It is the responsibility of the members of the assembly to understand the circumstances and pass the appropriate laws. Responsibility in overseeing and contributing to the governance of a country in distress and a society plagued by violence, confusion and frustration. After the elections are over, parliamentarians are no longer government agents in the service of parties. They are servants of the community, managers of its well-being, representatives of everyone, including their “opponents”.
The responsibility of the President of the Republic, who is called upon to interpret his presidential role, and his power should be understood as a resource in the service of society, but also as an efficient administration and honorable government. It must be a legitimate spokesperson for the country, which should be a space for everyone. The strength that inspires confidence in life, children’s education and investment. The enormous responsibilities of the president, which impose, by the way, an unwavering rigor against corruption, abuses and excesses that emphasize the discredit of the law.
The responsibility of judges and courts, who are obliged to restore a sense of justice, restore people’s faith in their actions. Without effective administration of justice, there is no Republic; There will be an imitation, a painful simulation, but there will be no Republic. And it’s not a matter of staging any speech. It is about daily testimony, about nurturing the safety and trust of so many citizens who look askance at the judicial system.
Responsibility of public administration, bureaucracy where many efforts have failed. Officials are there to serve, not to exercise parallel powers. Do not interpret the rules as you wish, do not interfere. They are there to encourage legitimate initiatives by people, not just to write memos.
The responsibility of the “political class”, that entelechy, that abstraction behind which is hidden the desire for domination and the desire to turn us into a laboratory for their trials.
The responsibility of each person, and everyone, in the task of rebuilding a country where peace is possible. (OR)
