Congress left Ukraine without money: the US budget did not include assistance to Kyiv

The US Congress approved a project to temporarily finance the country’s government. The document did not include the allocation of financial and military assistance to Israel and Ukraine, CNN writes.

The project was supported by 336 congressmen, 95 legislators voted against. It was developed by House Speaker Mike Johnson.

Now the draft must be approved by the Senate, after which the document will be sent to US President Joe Biden. At the same time, the White House has already stated that the head of state will sign the document if American senators support it.

Officials are working in an accelerated mode, since on November 17 the deadline expires within which the US Congress must approve the draft federal budget for the new fiscal year – otherwise a full or partial shutdown will be announced with the suspension of the work of federal departments and national parks. Also during this period, the possibility of obtaining loans for small businesses and access to social services is limited.

Let us remember that Biden earlier proposed allocating $106 billion in aid to Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan and strengthening the southern border of the United States in one package, but the Republicans rejected this idea. As a result, the House of Representatives adopted a separate bill on aid to Israel in the amount of $14 billion, but the Senate also blocked it.
