“Now, indeed, there is an acute crisis in relations, which has no analogues in the past. We need to carefully calibrate and verify our steps to prevent further escalation. This is exactly how our leadership sets up the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other federal executive authorities, and we strictly follow this,” said the deputy minister. At the same time, according to him, on the part of the Americans “there is a series of irresponsible escalatory steps in relation to Ukraine, but not only.”
“Therefore, if you look from this angle and see, so to speak, the behavioral model of Washington, the behavioral model characteristic of him at the current period, I can admit anything. There may also be a decrease in level. A severance of diplomatic relations is hypothetically also possible,” Ryabkov added.
At the same time, the senior diplomat stressed that Russia does not intend to initiate a severance of diplomatic relations with the United States. “We believe that diplomatic relations as an element of international life are, in general, something that needs to be taken care of and protected, otherwise we will generally lose the remnants of some civilized channels for conveying signals to each other,” he said He.
At the same time, the senior diplomat noted that the Russian side will respond to any challenges and provocations from the United States.
