Driving a moped may be a good solution for some people. With the AM class card they can also be driven two- and three-wheel mopeds in addition to the so-called micro cars or light quadricycles.
The biggest limitation of this type of license is that motorcycles have a 45cc displacement, which is a maximum speed of 50km / h approximately.
Mopeds are cheaper than motorcycles. They are light, agile and, in short, a good option for the city.
As general elements, as reported from the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT), to obtain a Spanish driving license or permit, you must comply with the following requirements:
1. Reside in Spain. If you are a foreign student not belonging to the European Union, you must demonstrate that you are in this circumstance for a minimum continuous period of six months. If you belong to a member state of the EU, the Economic Area or there is a bilateral agreement between Spain and your country, and you have a driving license, you do not need to obtain a new one, you can exchange the one you already have.
2. Not be deprived by judicial resolution of the right to drive motor vehicles and mopeds, nor be subject to suspension or administrative intervention.
3. Gather psychophysical skills required in relation to the kind of license you are applying for. However, you can also get a special license or permit if you have a disability.
4. Be of age required for each permit or license.
Documents and medical examination
The request to present yourself at aptitude tests and obtain, in case of exceeding them, your permit to be able to carry a moped must be accompanied by the following documentation:
1. Official application form of aptitude tests to request the presentation in the tests.
2. Psychophysical fitness report, issued by an authorized Driver Recognition Center. Remember that this certificate has a validity period of 90 days.
3. Proof of payment with the data of the rate corresponding previously purchased or a credit card if you are going to pay at our offices.
At the time of presenting yourself to the practical test you must provide:
Stub-photo with current original photograph of 32 x 26 mm. in color and with a plain background, taken from the front with the head uncovered and without dark glasses or any other garment that may prevent or hinder your identification. The school in which you register to take the practical exam will give you the check-photo in which you must sign and attach the photograph. It will only be necessary if it is the first time you have applied for a specific driving license. Veiled photographs will be accepted, but the oval of the face must appear uncovered from the hairline to the chin, so that it does not impede or hinder your identification.
Exam for the moped license
The Traffic Headquarters test that will consist of a minimum of 16 questions and a maximum of 30 on road safety content and other specific to moped driving. At present, the number of questions is 20. After passing the theoretical test, applicants will have to pass a closed-circuit skills test consisting of two maneuvers:
A) Zigzag between pulls at reduced speed.
B) To circulate on a strip of limited width.
