The American administration is sending Ukraine another package of military assistance worth $125 million, which will include air defense systems, weapons and equipment. This is stated in a written statement by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, TASS reports.
According to him, “today the United States is announcing a new package of weapons and equipment to support the people of Ukraine as they defend their country.” Military assistance worth $125 million is aimed, among other things, at strengthening the air defense system, the chief of American diplomacy added.
The United States allocates to Ukraine, in addition to $125 million, another $300 million for the Pentagon to conclude contracts for the purchase of weapons for Kyiv.
The United States administration included in the next package of military assistance to Ukraine shells for the NASAMS short- and medium-range anti-aircraft missile system (SAM), HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS), as well as ammunition for anti-tank systems, the Pentagon said in a written statement.
It notes that weapons worth $125 million will be transferred to Kyiv from the warehouses of the American military department. At the same time, $300 million in assistance is being sent as part of the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI), which involves the US Department of Defense concluding contracts with manufacturers rather than providing this or that equipment and equipment directly from its reserves.
