Yemen fires missiles at Israel

Israel was hit by a rocket attack from Yemen. The attack was reported by Yahya Sari, a representative of the rebel Shiite movement Ansar Allah (Houthis), ruling in the North of Yemen, RBC reports.

It is noted that the armed forces fired rockets at 12:00, allegedly in the direction of Israeli forces in the “occupied Palestinian territories.” Sari added that “military media” were broadcasting the strike live. Later, the Yemeni Ministry of Defense published a video on social media confirming the missile launches.

At the same time, the Israel Defense Forces have already stated that the missiles and drones were intercepted over the Red Sea, and there was no threat to the Israeli civilian population during the attacks, writes The Times of Israel.

The Israeli army noted that they could respond to shelling from the Houthis in the future. According to IDF spokeswoman Danielle Hagari, this will happen when the moment is right. The IDF added that it deployed missile boats in the Red Sea after the attack.

A day earlier, Saria promised that Ansar Allah would “carry out better missile and drone strikes until Israeli aggression stops.”

Let us recall that the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict began on October 7 after Hamas rocket attacks on Israeli territory and the capture of a number of settlements bordering the Gaza Strip. More than 1.4 thousand Israelis were killed, most of them civilians. Hamas militants also took a large number of hostages. According to Gaza’s health ministry, about 9,000 people have been killed in the strip since Israeli bombing began. According to WHO, 40% of the dead were children. Currently, the Gaza Strip is blocked – there is no electricity, no Internet, and the supply of heat and water has been interrupted.
