Famous American 55-year-old actor Matthew Perry, who was found dead the day before in his own home in a jacuzzi, suffered from a number of diseases. He had problems not only with drugs and alcohol, writes People.
Perry never married, had no children, drank a lot and often suffered from hangovers at work, the media notes.
The actor himself said that he started using painkillers after an injury on the set of the film “Burning Fools.” Pills, alcohol and drugs landed him in hospital at the age of 49. Before that, he had undergone rehabilitation 15 times, but it did not help. The actor also suffered from excess weight. He tried repeatedly to lose weight, but to no avail.
And four years ago, Parry’s colon ruptured due to excessive opioid use. He spent two weeks in a coma, another five in the hospital, after which he walked with a colostomy bag for nine months. The actor’s condition was so bad that he was connected to an ECMO machine. Then he survived and, by his own admission, made later in the media, he thought about life and reconsidered his views.
He said the scars from 14 abdominal surgeries reminded him of the importance of staying sober and what it was like to live with a colostomy bag.
On October 29, Perry was found dead in a jacuzzi at his home in Los Angeles.
