Ecuador is a very special country: it has an incredible climate, enviable landscapes, fertile land, generous nature, dream beaches, noble volunteerism and unfortunately public institutions that are often badly managed and a fair number of politicians that leave much to be desired, among other shortcomings..

The new government has the opportunity to solve some transcendental problems and direct the solution of others. It can show the world that it is possible to govern Ecuador without negotiating for favors. You have the opportunity to be efficient, and to do this you must be aware that you must combine new servers with experienced servers. It is a sin to improvise in the government for a year and a half.

Daniel Noboa has yet to appoint 16 ministers and 9 state secretaries

Ecuador cannot afford to waste time. He has problems that are eating away at his most important value: a family that lives insecure and afraid. We also witness vile attitudes, such as the threats of a guy who lost his way a while ago and was granted amnesty.

Daniel Noboa must complete the good projects started by Guillermo Lasso, learn from his good works and discard his mistakes. Among them are not increasing oil production and leaving public-private partnerships in the dust. I have read that several projects are “online”. I don’t know who the genius or philosopher is who thought that the abolition of tax incentives for public-private partnerships should be included in the Act on the Creation of Opportunities. Tax credits have actually been extinguished, and thus real investment opportunities. I have pointed that out several times. What is attractive about investing in today’s Ecuador, overwhelmed by violence and already world-famous for the dominance of the drug trade? The answer falls under its own weight.

We must be optimistic about the new government. But optimism and support from society are not enough for good governance. A year and a half can be the beginning of a virtuous path or the step we need to take to fall off a cliff.

(…) it can be the beginning of a virtuous path or the step we need to take to fall off the cliff.

Noboa did well not to talk too much. And you will do very well if you appoint competent people to follow you. Ecuador will not forgive improvisation in the government team, especially in the most critical areas. A pure academic is of no use to him, and neither is an experienced fraudster. You should seek advice from real friends, especially from those who are not interested in contracts with the state. Their circle cannot be those hungry for power or money, or figuretis.

We want to see a thoughtful ruler. He gave good signs. We expect good deeds. A good government minister and a good administrative secretary are very important in your governance. Part of your job is not to cover your eyes from the harsh reality.

This is a time of advice and good wishes. And I’m not an exception. The morality of the government, the ideal work team and zero conflict with the National Assembly will do Ecuador very well.

May God bless and enlighten us all. (OR)
