Russia is not going to strike at Ukraine, but has the right to move its troops across its own territory in any direction. This was announced to the Greek TV channel ANT1 by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.
The conversation took place on the eve of the meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in Sochi, the Izvestia newspaper reports.
When asked whether Moscow is planning a military strike against Ukraine, Peskov answered in the negative. However, he pointed out, Russia has the right to move troops across its territory in any direction.
At the same time, Peskov said that Russia is worried about the concentration of NATO and US soldiers on Greek territory, the transfer of military equipment of the alliance through the Greek port of Alexandroupolis, TASS notes.
“The problem is very simple. More and more NATO and US soldiers are concentrating on your territory. You are transporting hundreds, thousands of pieces of military equipment through Alexandroupoli and so on. You are opening new bases for NATO, and at the same time NATO calls us the enemy. And NATO formulates the main goal of the alliance, which is to contain Russia. This worries us, you must understand us, ”the press secretary emphasized.
Recall that over the past month, the world media has filled the topic of the alleged Russian invasion of Ukraine and the sanctions that should follow. According to the authors and experts of these publications, a sign of an “invasion” is the concentration of Russian military equipment in the regions bordering on Ukraine.
