It became known about the US development of hybrid air defense systems at the request of Kyiv

The United States produces FrankenSAM hybrid air defense systems at the request of Ukraine. The New York Times writes about this with reference to American officials.

According to media reports, these systems combine advanced Western weapons – modern Western-made surface-to-air missiles – with Soviet developments, namely launchers and radars, which are in service with the Ukrainian army.

Thus, the publication writes, one of the air defense options combines the Soviet Buk launcher and American Sea Sparrow missiles, the other – Soviet radars and American Sidewinder missiles. It is planned that such air defense systems will enter service with the Ukrainian army this fall. It is also noted that the third missile system, the Hawk installation designed during the Cold War, has already entered service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Earlier, the commander of the 128th mountain assault brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Colonel Dmitry Lisyuk, in an interview with The Guardian, said that the Russian army has a numerical advantage, more advanced electronic warfare systems, as well as reconnaissance equipment. At the same time, the Ukrainian Armed Forces, in particular its 128th brigade, use outdated Soviet armored vehicles. Lisyuk also assessed the situation on the battlefield and the successes of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. “It’s very difficult for us to move forward. There is an impressive defense there,” admitted the colonel.
