In the northern capital from 10 to 30 December at the Center for Contemporary Art named after Sergei Kuryokhin will host the International Festival “SKIF-24-Media”.
This year’s event takes place offline and online. The exhibition space of the Center will turn into a multimedia installation dedicated to the Soviet avant-garde musician Sergei Kuryokhin, the SKIF festival and its participants. Guests will see archival photos and videos. A separate space was allocated for the story “Lenin-mushroom” – a television hoax plot prepared by Sergei Kuryokhin and journalist Sergei Sholokhov in 1991. In the center of the exposition there will be a sculptural installation complemented by mapping and video sequences.
As part of the exhibition, guests will see concerts of young Russian musicians and film screenings.
On December 11, at 17:00, the Sergey Kuryokhin Award ceremony for 2020 will take place. It will be possible to follow her ceremony on YouTube and on social networks: on the Center’s pages on VKontakte and Facebook.
SKIF will continue to work in the spirit of Sergei Kuryokhin, the leader of the musical group “Pop Mechanic”, which emerged in the mid-1980s: visitors will see a mixture of styles, genres and art trends, carnivalization, a synthesis of traditions and innovations.
Recall that SKIF festivals have been held since 1997, the first two were held in New York. Since 1998, events have been held annually in St. Petersburg. Over the entire period, more than seven hundred groups from Russia, Europe, USA, Japan and Australia have taken part in the festival.
