A weekend in St. Petersburg: a Christmas parade, a New Year’s fair and an action to help the elderly

It was a frosty week in St. Petersburg, but warming is expected on the weekend. In the fresh air in such weather, you still don’t want to walk for a long time, and you don’t want to sit at home with a festive mood either. So that you don’t puzzle over what to do on the weekend, Rosbalt has again prepared for you a selection of interesting events for the coming week!

International Festival “Christmas Parade”

New Year is getting closer and closer. Outside the window there are snowdrifts, the streets of the city are changing, and the soul demands a holiday. There are three more weeks to wait for the New Year, but we know a way to maintain the festive mood even now!

The international festival “Christmas Parade” takes place from 4 to 15 December. This is one of the oldest theater festivals in St. Petersburg. Famous theater and film actors received their first awards here, so this is a great opportunity for you to discover emerging artists who will certainly be on the posters soon.

“Christmas Parade” is a modern non-standard stage creation that does not fit into traditional practice. The purpose of the festival is to draw the attention of spectators and the theatrical community to the experimental work of new theaters.

Admission to the festival is free, by prior registration. Remember to wear masks. Look for the event poster and detailed information in the official VKontakte group (https://vk.com/parad_std20).

Promotion “Let’s give a holiday to grandfathers and grandmothers”

New Year is a magical time loved by people of all ages, without exception. Children are waiting for gifts under the Christmas tree from Santa Claus, and adults exchange small and large presents on New Year’s. Who doesn’t love receiving gifts? And how nice it is to give something to loved ones and see joy!

Unfortunately, there are people who have no one to congratulate on the New Year. These are grandparents who were left without the help of relatives. To please them and make them forget about loneliness at least for a few moments, we invite you to take part in a kind action of collecting gifts for the elderly.

For each holiday, volunteers collect and deliver gifts to grandparents in nursing homes. Until December 26, St. Petersburg is collecting gifts and funds for the elderly. To become a participant, you don’t need much: collect a gift, transfer money to an account, or go with volunteers to nursing homes, personally congratulate them and give gifts.

At a certain time, volunteers collect gifts at metro stations in St. Petersburg. You can bring linens, soft sweets, souvenirs, socks, homemade postcards, and other things that might please retirees.
The ban includes medicines, glass, perishable food and used items. Festive gift wrapping is welcome!

If you want to immerse yourself in your work, you can volunteer yourself. And if you do not have time, but want to please grandparents, you can transfer money to the account, and the volunteers will buy gifts themselves.

Such a small and kind deed can become a reason for the joy of several pensioners! New Year is a time of kindness and joy, and you have a great opportunity to present this New Year’s miracle to someone.

The cycle of family meetings “History is here”

In December, a cycle of family meetings for children will take place in the modern branch of the V.V. Mayakovsky library.
Lectures for children from 6 to 10 years old will be devoted to history.

It is no secret that history is necessary and important to know. And even more important, from an early age, instill an interest in the study of history in children. And you don’t need to learn from boring textbooks!

On Saturday, December 11, children will try to reproduce the journey of Marco Polo and understand how a European can survive in Medieval China. Children will be told about the great traveler in an interesting and exciting way and will hold a master class for them.

And next Saturday, young history buffs will learn about Maggelan’s bold journey and route.

Also, the guys will be able to make a map themselves and repeat the routes of the discoverers!

Admission is free with prior registration. Don’t forget to bring scissors and glue to your meetings!
