The Moskovsky District Court of St. Petersburg issued a verdict in the case of bribery (Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) against the former deputy head of the South-Western territorial department of Rospotrebnadzor Yulia Yudzhel. The ex-official avoided imprisonment, but received a large fine and a ban on working in government agencies. This is the second verdict under a similar article against her since the beginning of 2023, RBC notes.
“The court found that Yudzhel received three bribes from representatives of commercial organizations between January 2020 and February 2022. The funds were transferred for not interfering with the activities of firms, not carrying out control (supervisory) activities, and not holding organizations accountable for identified violations,” the city prosecutor’s office said in a statement. Over two years, Yudzhel collected bribes totaling 85 thousand rubles, some of which she took directly at her workplace.
The court imposed a fine on the ex-official in the amount of 900 thousand rubles and banned her from holding public office for a period of 4 years.
Earlier, in April 2023, Yulia Yudzhel was involved in a criminal case under a similar article, as a result of which she lost her position. Then the court found that she received funds in the amount of more than 100 thousand rubles from entrepreneurs. and a laptop worth 65 thousand rubles. for the accelerated issuance of sanitary and epidemiological conclusions, bypassing legal procedures and deadlines. As the prosecution noted, Yudzhel received the money at her workplace or by transfer to her daughter’s card. She was found guilty and fined 1 million rubles.
